Volunteer Statement of Involvement
Rockway believes our volunteers contribute to a stronger, healthier and more welcoming school community. Many activities at Rockway are dependent on the contributions of volunteers and we are grateful for the time and energy our volunteers contribute towards Rockway’s mission.
Rockway Volunteers:
- are valued contributors to a healthy school environment
- support students, faculty, and staff to achieve their learning and extracurricular goals more effectively
- build meaningful connection while modeling citizenship and humanity to the school community
- offer diverse perspectives, experiences and backgrounds

Our Volunteer Program
Our volunteer opportunities are designed to:
- give time for connection with other parents with students from the same grades
- offer a shared perspective and understanding of student life activities
- actively build community by supporting activities that define the Rockway experience
- allow accessible participation for anyone, even those within busy schedules
You will see a variety of volunteer opportunities here, from one-time events to regular or seasonal support of an extracurricular. We encourage you to check out what interests you and what to expect in each role.
All adult volunteer opportunities are accessed through the MyImpact portal (by Better Impact) and requires a profile set up in order to view specifics of available volunteer roles. Volunteers create and manage their own profile username and password. Access to MyImpact (by website or the free downloadable app – Apple or Android) allows volunteers:
- Review and update their own personal information (including emergency contacts, a photo upload, communication preferences, etc.)
- Sign forms and waivers
- Upload role-specific documents (e.g. Police record checks, license/insurance)
- Complete online training modules (only if applicable to the position)
- And much more…
All student volunteers are sought after through the Announcements page (they do not us the MyImpact portal). Students can also receive Community Service hours when they volunteer for a Rockway event.
Whatever your passion or skill level, we are always happy to help you get connected and find the right fit to be involved as a Rockway Volunteer.

Volunteer Signup - STUDENT
When we need student volunteers, we communicate through the Announcements page. Students do not us the MyImpact portal. Instead, we may ask them to fill out a google form or simply pop into the office to speak to our Volunteer Coordinator.
If a Rockway student wants to let us know they are interested in volunteering at a school event, they can either send an email to volunteers@rockway.ca or stop by the office to speak directly with Jenn Maxwell, our Volunteer Coordinator. Students should not fill out an application in the MyImpact portal.
Volunteer Signup - ADULT
Whether you are a new volunteer or returning, to start your volunteer jorney this year, simply explore Rockway Volunteer opportunities that might interest you.
If you are a NEW Volunteer:
- Fill in an Application – A clickable link on the right side of each volunteer opportunity connects to an application specific to each type of volunteer role. Submitting an application also creates your volunteer profile. (keep your username/password for future reference)
If you are a RETURNING Volunteer:
- To apply to a new position you have not held previously, enter your login credentials. Any responses submitted through another application will be visible, however you may need to complete additional (blank) required questions.
- To apply to a role you have applied to in the past, you may follow the blue ‘Log in to your account‘ option (instead of Fill in an application) and navigate to the Opportunities tab (list view) to select and sign up for roles and specific shifts you may be qualified for. You may also add yourself to the back up list, if positions are full.

ONGOING Volunteer Opportunities
We are looking for parents to volunteer one day a week to be the parking lot attendant. The time commitment would only be from 2:45 – 3:15 pm. Thanks for considering!
