Our Volunteer Program
Rockway believes our volunteers contribute to a stronger, healthier and more welcoming school community. Many of our activities are dependent on the contributions of our incredible volunteers and we are grateful for their gifts of time and talent!
If you are interested in being a Rockway Volunteer, we invite you to read more about our program and fill out our Interest Survey.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
We are looking for parents to volunteer one day a week to be the parking lot attendant. The time commitment would only be from 2:45 – 3:15 pm. Thanks for considering!
For those new to this annual event, the Christmas Banquet is a special dinner, program, and dance for our grade 9-12 students. This much-anticipated event is where students dress up, gather to share a meal, and make another Rockway memory with their peers, faculty and staff. Students do not have to pay.
This year’s banquet will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, and is powered by over 30 adult volunteers in a variety of roles. By joining us as a volunteer, you’ll not only help to spread the Christmas spirit, but you’ll also catch a sneak peek of the student experience, share in a meal with fellow volunteers, and connect with other volunteers who also have a student in grade 9 or 12 for your own community-building experience.
We aim to keep the jobs simple, so with a little instruction, you can jump right in and know that you are making a difference! (This means no experience is required—we’ll train you!)
A place awaits you on one of our teams (times are approximate):
- Food Prep (2:30 – 7:30 pm) – Alongside our Food Services staff, prepare a variety of food
- Table Setting (3:15 – 5:15 pm) – Set out plates/cutlery/glassware according to plan
- Punch Table/Runners (5:30 – 9:00 pm) – Prepare and serve punch. Keep buffet trays full. Some heavy lifting is required.
- Food Runners (5:30 – 9:00 pm) – Set up the buffet table and keep the buffet trays full throughout dinner. Some heavy lifting is required.
- Dining Room Servers (6:30 – 9:00 pm) – Refill water pitchers, serve dessert, clear tables and scrape plates.
- Cleanup (6:30 – 10:00 pm) – Help plate desserts. Scrape and wash dishes/cutlery using the dishwasher, put away clean dishes, and help with kitchen clean-up.
Whether you are one of our “regulars” around our proverbial volunteer table or this will be your first volunteer gig with us, we thank you, and we know our students thank you for helping to make this night a special one for them!
We look forward to having you join us in spreading a little Christmas spirit.
