Family Testimonials

“Our family is very grateful for the experiences and academic instruction”

Snider/Harder Family

Matthew Snider and Rebecca Harder are no strangers to Rockway. They both graduated from Rockway in 1994, their oldest son Adam, graduated in 2023 and their youngest, Toby will graduate in 2025.

Our family is very grateful for the experiences and academic instruction that our sons Adam and Toby received while at Rockway.

Adam graduated in June 2023 and while the “covid years” were challenging for all students, Rockway was able to continue to offer a high level of academic instruction and also maintain a sense of community for the students which was so critical during that time. Once back in the classroom, the school focused a lot on the student experience and prioritized school spirit and engagement. Adam was a part of Student Council in his grade 12 year and this opportunity taught him a lot about leadership and he was able to act as a role model for the younger students.

Toby entered grade 11 in the fall of 2023, and, like Adam, he quickly established a tight group of close friends.  It is clear that these friendships will continue well into their adult years.

Both Adam and Toby have benefitted from, and been enthusiastic participants in, school sports. They have played varsity volleyball, basketball, badminton, track and field and ultimate frisbee! The opportunity to try so many sports is what makes a small school like Rockway really appealing. The coaches are dedicated, well qualified and encouraging and have really instilled a love of sport and physical health in both our boys.

Academically, the small classroom sizes and the dedication of the teachers has ensured successful outcomes for both Adam and Toby. They have established strong relationships with many of the faculty and staff and it is clear that there is mutual respect between teachers and students.

We are also grateful for Rockways’ work on building global citizens. Chapel themes and guest speakers have been inspiring and have helped the students think critically and compassionately about the world they live in.

“Rockway has done everything we expect of a Christian School.”

Alonge Family

The Alonge family has been part of the Rockway community since September 2020. Their son Josh graduated in June 2023 and their other son Jaden entered grade 11 in September 2023.

The transition into Rockway has really been very smooth for the boys as they were welcomed and accepted by faculty, staff and students.

Throughout our journey in the school, the boys and us have had a blast and Rockway has done everything we expect of a Christian school.

At Rockway, academic excellence is a given. While it is a rather rigorous academic program, what really stands out about Rockway is its way of education that develops a high emotional intelligence and community-centered thinking in its students.

Our boys are now more broad-minded as they think of solutions that are about the greater good and not just for self-interest.

Rockway has made a large impact on our lives and has set up our kids for success in whatever they choose to do with their lives. Looking back, we are certain that we made the right choice to choose Rockway Mennonite Collegiate for our boys from among the many available options within Kitchener.
