Meet the Bands – 80th Anniversary Celebration

We have FOUR AMAZING BANDS joining us at Rockway’s 80th ‘Back to the Barn’ Anniversary party on September 13th. They will all be playing as part of the Food Market from 5:30 – 9:30 pm.
Let’s meet them…and be sure to get your tickets before August 29!

No Discernible Key

Starting as a “barn band” over 30 years ago for Barnfests outside of Tavistock, No Discernible Key has a repertoire with local flavour. Fiddle and Accordion tunes are mixed with Canadian ballads, sea shanties and gospel tunes.
What really holds them together is four out of five band members were Rockway parents, and they all married Amish women!

No Discernible Key is:

Jim Bender –  fiddle and guitar
Dwight Steinman – accordion
Fred Martin – bass or guitar
Brent Klassen – percussion
Dave Neufeld – mandolin

Second Wind

Born out of friendships formed at Rockway in the ’70s, Second Wind has its roots in an early band called Pharaoh. Today, the group brings together original members Darrel Martin, Daniel Kramer, and Howard Brubacher, along with Willem Moolenbeek and special guest Peggy Weber. With deep roots in Rockway’s music program and years of performing together, they’re helping us celebrate Rockway’s 80th in style!

SECOND WIND is:
Darrel Martin ’72 – Founding member and pianist, inspired by gospel roots; Darrel has shared his talents everywhere from community stages to the Kitchener Blues Festival.
Daniel Kramer ’73 – Lifelong musician whose Rockway music days sparked bands Heavy Bedspring (grade 9!) Pharaoh, A Band Called Martin, and eventually Second Wind. Daniel’s creativity spans from music to award-winning craftwork.
Howard Brubacher ‘70 – Original guitarist who credits Rockway’s music program for shaping his love of playing with friends ❤
Willem Moolenbeek – Saxophonist, international educator, and the “new guy” who joined through family ties to Rockway
Peggy Weber ’82 – Guest vocalist, lifelong performer, and community builder through music from Toronto to Panama!

Don’t miss the chance to celebrate with this legendary Rockway band!

Menno Valley Sound

What started back in the 1970s as the Stirling Silver Trio (three guys, three chords, and three gospel songs at a church talent show!) has grown into a group of friends who simply love making music together. Plus you couldn’t find a nicer group of people!
