Application Process

The following steps are to be taken when applying to Rockway as an International Student:

  • A completed International Application Form (writable PDF).
  • A recent transcript (in English please).
  • $400 (Cdn) non-refundable Application Fee. This must be sent with the Application Form and can be paid by credit card, money order, or certified cheque made payable to “Rockway Mennonite Collegiate Inc.”.
  • Proof of immunization for mumps, measles, rubella, polio and diptheria is required once you arrive.

Once we receive all of the above paperwork, we will review your application we will book a telephone or Skype Interview and, if approved, send notification of an Offer of Acceptance via email.

Once you receive this email message, payment of the tuition fee, home stay fee, health insurance fee and book charges must be forwarded. This amount will be included in the e-mail message along with instructions and options for you to forward the fees to the school.

When these fees are received, we will forward an official Letter of Acceptance that you can use to apply for a Student Visa.

If you are under 18 years of age, you will require a Custodial Letter when applying to the Canadian Embassy for a study permit. Rockway will provide this for you at no extra charge.

International Student Fees

Rockway’s fees are set by the Board of Directors in the fall preceding the year of entry. The fee is reflective of the costs associated with a Rockway education and the realities of the marketplace.

More

The international student tuition fee for 2023-2024 is $28,900 Cdn.

Home Stay fees are $13,750 Cdn for the full school year (10 months). This Home Stay fee covers a room and three meals per day.

The Custodial Fee is $2750 Cdn per year.

All Rockway International Students must live with either a host family or a guardian.

Only those International students living with a notarized guardian or adult relative(s) will be exempt from this expectation. Students that are living outside of Rockway’s HomeStay Program with their legal guardian must pay a $3500 activity fee to cover activities and administrative fees.

Books (approximately $750 Cdn) are extra and will be picked up once you have chosen your courses. It is important for you to know that all Rockway students purchase and own their own textbooks.

Health Insurance is $700 Cdn for the school year.

Tuition fees are non-refundable unless a student is unable to obtain a student visa.

Requests must be accompanied by a letter from the Canadian Embassy stating that the visa application has been refused.

In this case all fees except a $1000 administrative fee will be refunded.

If a student:

  • Discontinues classes during the year   or
  • Is asked to withdraw from the school because of behaviour deemed unacceptable by the school or host family   or
  • Has irregular attendance   or
  • Shows inattention to his/her studies

NO tuition, homestay or other fees will be refunded.

Homestay Program

We have learned from past experience that International Students adjust to life in Canada more quickly and that their English improves more rapidly if they live with a Canadian host family. Thus each International Student at Rockway is placed in a Canadian home with a caring and friendly family who is genuinely interested in welcoming them into their home.

More

Once we assign a host family it is expected that the student will remain there for the time of their stay at Rockway. Only those students living with guardians or adult relatives will be exempt from the expectation of living with a Canadian family. We do not permit International Students to live on their own in apartment settings. Along with arranging the host family, Rockway ensures that each International Student is met at the airport either by their host family or a Rockway representative. Airport Pickup and Dropoff fee is $350 Cdn.

Many of our families have much experience in hosting International Students and they work hard to ensure that their student can find a “home away from home”. Rockway personally interviews each host family inspects each home setting and maintains communication with the host family throughout the year. Rockway also requires that all persons in the host family who are over the age of 18 must obtain a Police Check. This is a reference check done by the local police department to ensure that no one living in the host family residence has a criminal record.

Your accommodation is an important part of your time in Canada and we will do our best to provide you with a supportive home environment where you can feel safe cared for and nurtured while studying at Rockway.
