Personal Information

Jen began her teaching career at Rockway in March of 1997 and has taught a variety of subjects in Grade 7&8, however, Music has always been at the core of her teaching. Jen loves introducing Grade 7s to a wind instrument almost as much as she loves conducting experienced players in the Intermediate Wind. Jen is honoured to lead the Grade 10 Choir, and finds much joy in guiding them when they lead worship on a Sunday morning as part of Rockway’s Church Visit Itineration program.

Theatre is another highlight for Jen. She enjoys bringing out the actor in each of her willing cast members in Rockway’s Grade 7&8 Drama productions and loves the process of putting on an All School Musical – from watching students nervously audition for a role, to their confident (and brilliant!) performance on stage. Musicals are a passion that first started in Community theatre, as Jen has been the Musical Director and/or Orchestra Director (and more recently, helping with Front of House when she’s not able to lead music) for The Community Players of New Hamburg since 2000.

When she’s not teaching or shaping young actors, Jen is Rockway’s Communications Manager – helping to create and produce the myriad of marketing/communications materials used throughout the school year. She is also proud to be part of the team that organizes Rockway Events for Recruitment, Fundraising and Community building. Jen is grateful that she is able to combine her love of music with her passion for (musical) theatre and building community in a musically-driven, theatrically-gifted and community-minded ‘home’ like Rockway Mennonite Collegiate.
