A great semester for International Students

Posted on: February 17th, 2018

The international students at Rockway have had a great first semester!

We started off the year with our annual trip to Silver Lake Mennonite Camp. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed many activities such as archery, canoeing, the climbing wall and a hike down to Sauble beach where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. There was lots of time to get to know each other better, to enjoy playing games, have a campfire and of course some epic ping pong with Mr. Modolo!

In Novemeber we all hopped on the Rockway bus and headed to Toronto for a day of shopping and eating! The students looked forward to going to restaruants where they could enjoy familar tastes from home and many came back with some purchases made along the way.

This year many of our international students have been instumental in planning schoolwide activities to bridge the Canadian and Chinese cultures. We had our first ever ping pong tournament which was a great success and enjoyed by many! We have also hosted a number of English Cafe events where students have enjoyed playing games such as Dutch Blitz and Crokinal.

Our next event will be going out to celebrate Chinese New Year at Cameron’s restaurant – this has always been an event to look forward to!
