Rockway Remembers Roger Stover

Posted on: May 12th, 2020

Roger Stover, past Athletics Director and beloved teacher and coach, passed away on May 7, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer. Roger taught at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate for 30 years and was known to have a gentle, kind spirit by all who knew him. He was hired in 1968, and founded Rockway’s first athletics program, providing the opportunity for Rockway students to participate in competitive athletics. Roger had the ability to bring out the best in all of his athletes – he generated team spirit, and had the unique ability to bridge faith and sport together in a way that inspired and emulated Rockway’s four pillars.

Rockway thanks Roger, for his many years of faithful service and for being a “pillar” of Rockway! Our thoughts and prayers are extended to his wife Daphne, and his two sons and their families, Jeff and his wife Christy and Bryan and his wife Sheri.

A virtual Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 2 p.m. The family invite you to join them online by the link to be posted on Roger’s online memorial page through www.georgefuneralhome.com.

In the interim, please join us on Rockway’s Facebook page to continue to remember this remarkable man.
