The Leah & Emmanuel Martin Family Scholarship

- Robert Schweitzer – 1986

- Ron Schweitzer – 1990

- Joanna Martin – 1995
- Justin Martin – 1997

- Emily Martin – 2011
- Lucas Bauman – 2013
- Leah Bauman – 2017
In honour of this milestone, family members have come together to establish The Leah & Emmanuel Martin Family Scholarship. Fred Martin and Leah’s mother, Janet Bauman, who herself is a retired Rockway teacher, were present when the Scholarship was announced during Rockway’s 2017 Connections Homecoming Weekend. They are pictured here with Rockway Principal, Ann L. Schultz.
At the announcement, Fred spoke of the family’s commitment to Christian education at Rockway and of their wish to support students, both inspired by Leah and Emmanuel Martin.
Monies contributed to this Scholarship have been invested. The annual earned income from these funds will be used to financially assist a Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (MCEC) student, new or returning, who requires support for tuition. The scholarship will be granted by the Rockway Tuition Assistance/Scholarship Committee as part of its mandate.
“It’s very meaningful to know that Martin family members and descendants feel so deeply about their connection with Rockway that they want to invest in extending the Rockway experience to future students,” reflected Christine Rier, Director of Advancement. “Our sincerest gratitude to all family members for sharing Leah and Emmanuel’s passion for children and Christian education with MCEC families.”
