Matt Kipfer's Amazing Buzzer Beater
The morning of Wednesday December 18th, Rockway was treated to this exciting sports announcement by Ray Boehm, broadcast at the end of Period One over the school P.A. system.
“A Rockway memory from 7 pm last night: Tied game, 10 seconds to go, Woodland’s ball and they call timeout. Pressure is over the top, everyone gets set. They work the ball to their best player, he shoots… he misses, but sadly no Rockway player has boxed out and Woodland gets the easy rebound. Up by two with 2 seconds left, things are looking great for Woodland.
Dathan Bender grabs the ball, inbounds to Matt Kipfer, he takes one dribble, still on our side of half, launches the ball, buzzer goes, ball is floating in the air, no one breathes… bank and swish! Rockway wins! Rockway wins!”
