Rockway is governed  by a Board of Directors of up to 13 people, who provide vision and direction for the school and oversee operations of the organization. Twelve of the directors are elected and the Principal is an ex officio non-voting member. Three of the elected members are nominated by our conference, Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (MCEC).

Staff who are part of the Administrative Council also participate in board meetings, these include the Vice Principal, Director of Admissions and Recruitment, Director of Advancement, and Director of Finance and Human Resources. In addition, the faculty elects one representative to participate in Board meetings.

Call for Nominations/Expressions of Interest in Board Membership at
Rockway Mennonite Collegiate

Rockway Mennonite Collegiate Board’s Nominations Committee welcomes individuals to express their interest in joining Rockway’s Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is seeking members who are champions of the school and support the school’s Vision and Mission.

Background: As a Christian educational community within the Anabaptist  Mennonite tradition, Rockway Mennonite Collegiate integrates sound  academic learning with growth in character and faith, together with a passion for peacemaking and service to God and all creation.

The Board of Directors at Rockway is a governance board. The individuals  who make up the board of directors are responsible for making key decisions  that address the organization’s mission, vision, and goals. This contrasts with  employees who oversee the day-to-day operations of the school. Three positions of the Board of Directors are reserved for nominees of our conference, Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (MCEC).

Board Composition: 12 elected Board Members each serving three-year terms.

10 members are adherents or members of a MCEC or an Anabaptist congregation

2 members represent the broader Rockway School Community

1 Principal as ex officio non-voting director

Meeting Schedule: Typically, the board meets eight times a year with seven  meetings and the AGM in November. Currently, meetings are held on Tuesdays, beginning with a meal at 5 pm, followed by a 5:30 – 8:00 pm meeting. Members are strongly encouraged to attend school events such as fundraisers, concerts, plays, etc.

The Board’s Nominations Committee welcomes expressions of interest throughout the school year. If you are interested in being considered for Board membership, please complete this google form. Completing this form does not indicate your commitment to becoming a member of the Board, only an expression of interest.

If you wish to suggest another person for Board membership, please email nominations@rockway.ca with name and contact details of potential candidates. Please seek permission to submit another’s name and indicate, in your email, your rationale for suggesting this person.

Potential members are identified by the Nominations Committee with consideration given to qualifications and gifts/strengths that they may bring to the Board. Potential Board members are brought forward for approval at Rockway’s Annual General Meeting in November.
