IMG_0577On May 29-30th our grade 7 class went to Fort George on the Niagara River. We were there to experience what life would have been like for soldiers and civilians during the War of 1812.

We spent the day in workshops that taught us about the hardships of being a soldier, musical instruments of the time period, and much more. Then we had free time to play games that the children would play in the fort. We were then sent to bed in the barracks.

In the morning, we visited the Mackenzie Printery. We learned how to print a newspaper like people did back then. It took a long time but it was worth it!

After climbing the Brock Monument, which had an amazing view, we headed home. This was a great trip and we learned a lot about Canadian history.
