Ann L. Schultz earns Distinguished Alumni Award
Join Rockway in Celebrating Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Ann L. Schultz
Ann L. Schultz ’84, will be presented with a Distinguished Alumni Service Award by Conrad Grebel University College on March 5, 2022. Ann is a graduate of both Rockway Mennonite Collegiate and the University of Waterloo where she studied Music and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990. Ann came to Grebel after completing a Bachelor of Church Music at Canadian Mennonite Bible College. After Grebel she completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Western Ontario.
The Rockway community celebrates this much-deserved honour with Ann and congratulates her! Ann’s tenure at Rockway has recently been celebrated. On Sunday, November 28 2021, Rockway honoured Ann and her 30 years of service at With Gratitude: A Retirement Celebration for Ann L. Schultz. Grebel’s Distinguished Alumni Award is given to individuals who have made a unique contribution to church, community, nation and world that is significant and worthy of recognition. Ann says, “Having taught at Rockway for so many years in the Music Department, moving to the role of Principal was another way I felt I would be able to advance Rockway’s mission, which has a strong emphasis of putting values into action through service and peacemaking. Leading a school that encourages students to learn, form faith and build character has been deeply life-giving to me. It has been an incredible honour to work with so many committed and dedicated people over the last 30 years!”
Marcus Shantz ‘90, President of Conrad Grebel noted, “Ann is a compelling example of leadership in the midst of challenging times and is a role model for our students who seek ways to connect their passion to a vocational calling. For her entire career, Ann has represented Grebel’s ideals. Her contribution to the church and to the spiritual, intellectual, and musical growth of teenagers is significant. For this reason, we are pleased to award Ann Grebel’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award.” Marcus is also a Rockway Alumni.
Ann has been on faculty at Rockway since 1991. She has served as Head of the Music Department, interim Vice-Principal, and more recently as Principal since 2013. Ann retires at the end of December 2021.
