Enthralogy, 12th Edition hits the press!

IMG_6213Writer’s Craft 2014 students have just sent the manuscript of EnthralogyVolume 12 (Twelve Years a Student), to press. This anthology showcases writing they produced during the course.

When she began teaching Writer’s Craft at Rockway 12 years ago, Ms. Kristen Mathies envisioned an annual anthology that would showcase student writing. She and Ms. Kay Weber led their classes in choosing, editing, and organizing selections of their work. Christian Snyder (Class of 1994), of Pandora Press, willingly lent his time and expertise to help bring the project to fruition.

Every year since, Pandora Press has generously assisted with final layout, and printed the newest volume of Enthralogy.

More than a decade later, Ms. Melanie Cameron and her Writer’s Craft classes have kept the original vision alive. Thanks to advances in technology, the process of preparing the final manuscript is much simpler and students now paste their work into a class-shared Google Doc. Often the cover art is also created by a Rockway student.

Preparing Enthralogy places students in a real-world scenario akin to an actual publishing experience, as they anticipate seeing their work in print and shared with readers beyond their teacher and classmates. The project also allows students to ask the questions, make the decisions, and apply the technical writing skills required in the field of professional editing.

Writer’s Craft 2013 students can pick up their copy of Volume 11 (Sparks of Imagination), from the office.
