A20160322172238-6cf49fd6s part of their summative project in their Geometry unit, our grade 8 students were challenged to use their creativity and imagination to design and build a three-dimensional “GeoPet“. Each GeoPet was to consist of at least three different shapes, and include at least ten shapes in total.

Once they designed and constructed their pets, students applied the formulas and skills they learned throughout the unit: they calculated both the total surface area and volume of their unique GeoPet creation.

The students had a lot of fun dreaming up and building their pets. They even seemed to enjoy applying their learned skills in a useful way. Their creations were very impressive and far exceeded Ms. Antoun’s expectations!
