Grade 8 Visit to Holocaust Education Centre

Holocaust MuseumOn November 13th the Grade 8 class visited the Sam and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre in Toronto.

Here is how two grade 8 students described their visit:

“We had a tour guide tell us all about the Jewish people before and during the war and how their lives changed in those years.

It was very interesting and we got to meet a Holocaust survivor and got to hear her story and experiences. She told us how her family was torn apart and how only she and her mother lived through this catastrophe. She told us how she started telling her story and how the Holocaust had changed her perspective on life. Ever since then she has openly told people her life’s experiences and agreed to go all over the world to speak about it.

Her talk was very inspiring as it showed us what a Jewish life in the time of the Holocaust was like. We learned exactly how terribly they were treated in the ghettos and concentration camps. We were very surprised to hear that she never gave up hope and always believed the war would end.

It was an amazing day and we think that all the Grade 8 classes should be able to have this experience and learn more about the Holocaust.”
