On October 6th and 7th, the International Students had a wonderful retreat up at Silver Lake Mennonite Camp. For many of the students, it was their first time sleeping in a sleeping bag, let alone spending a significant amount of time in nature and learning new outdoor skills! Under the guidance of the fantastic team of outdoor education leaders at Silver Lake, the International Students had the opportunity to go canoeing, kayaking and try their hand at archery and fire building. We also enjoyed a hike around the camp, playing a tracking game and a very boisterous game of “camp” hide and seek! Who knew how much fun pretending to be an owl and finding your prey could be!

This retreat provided the perfect opportunity to re-kindle old friendships, make new friends and spend some very deliberate (mostly!) electronic free time, enjoying the beautiful scenery and engaging activities that camp has to offer.
