Junior Boys Basketball

IMG_6230The junior boys basketball team recently hosted the 20th annual Roger Stover Classic Invitational Tournament on January 31st and February 1st. The boys have had a good season even though they have had to battle with many injuries and competing interests throughout the season. They are tied for 5th in their league standings heading into the playoffs.

The risk of running a tournament at this time of year is that the weather doesn’t always cooperate. This year the snow kept the team from Shelburne from attending the tournament. To accommodate this last minute withdrawal, our boys shifted their schedule to playing three games on the Saturday.

Short handed for most of the day, the team played some excellent ball, fighting back to make each game an exciting finish. The boys, being exhausted and down to six players, coughed up a lead in the last minute in the Consolation Championship. Many players scored their first baskets of the season with each player making contributions throughout the day. Congratulations on a hard fought day!

The team now turns its focus to the post season culminating in the CWOSSA A championship to be held in Walkerton on February 19th. Both our junior and senior boys basketball teams are hoping to repeat their success from last year. GO FLAMES!
