September Salutations

principal ponderings2Greetings!

I would like to extend my heartfelt hello, to all new and returning parents as together we launch into the 2014-2015 school year!

Every couple of weeks you will hear my “voice” as I post a “Principal Ponderings:” a reflection, a celebration, or a challenge that I would like to share.  This week, I would like to update you on our first two weeks of school.

Rockway Faculty and Staff launched into the school year with three days of rigorous meetings and Professional Development that I believe will inspire and serve your children well during the months ahead.  I witnessed a highly capable and enthusiastic Student Council support the Kick Start Barbecue, execute a warm welcome to all students on the first day of school, and most recently present a dynamic student assembly.  I addressed the entire student body on the first day of school and spoke about Rockway’s four pillars, that I believe will be foundational during the coming year, as they “form faith…build character” in all that they do.  Teachers have commented on a positive vibe in their classrooms, students are overall arriving to school on time, the new white board in the library is showing both artistic and academic rigor, extra-curricular activities are in full swing, and student interaction in the halls is positive and respectful! The family welcome dessert last evening was well attended and provided opportunity to build community.

We are off to a strong start – welcome aboard, and salutations!

Ann L. Schultz

Principal
