Our Honoured Guests from China
Rockway was very excited and honoured to recently welcome six visitors from the Xindu District of Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Our guests included four Principals and two Education Officials including Liu, Xudong, Principal of Xindu No. 1 Middle School (our sister school) and Zhang, Shiming, Principal of the Chengbei campus of Xindu No. 1 Middle School.
We were pleased to welcome former Rockway Principal Bert Lobe, who was the visionary behind our 24+ year relationship with China, as a key part of our hosting team. Highlights of the visit included sharing educational information and best practices, touring Rockway, Conrad Grebel (University of Waterloo) and St. Jacobs, experiencing the majestic wonder of Niagara Falls from the Maid Of The Mist tour boat and celebrating our 70th anniversary at the Entertainment Gala on October 24th.
One additional highlight was a visit to an old Order Mennonite farm where the guests learned about buggy wheel making and were treated to horse and buggy rides up and down the laneway.
We look forward to our continued partnership with our Chinese education partners and are grateful for having had this meaningful time of connection.
