When I was a kid and attended school, I loved to work in partners. It was fun to connect with a friend and work on a project, share ideas and ultimately create something we were proud of!  My desire to work with others has continued throughout my life, as I attended university and launched my teaching career.

As Principal of Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, I am committed to bring this passion of working with others into what I call a commitment to working with “Partners”. Rockway has a long-standing tradition of working with other organizations and I am delighted to move that tradition forward. One of our major partners is with the families and congregations that comprise the Mennonite Church of Eastern Canada.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Rockway’s Annual General Meeting, Russell Snyder-Penner, Chair of Rockway’s Board announced the launch of Share the Flame, a fund-raising campaign shared by both the Board and Administration to raise money for tuition assistance in the amount of 145,000.00.Following this announcement, David Martin, Executive Director of MCEC surprised us all with an announcement stating MCEC is prepared to match every dollar we raise for Share the Flame, up to $150,000.00! For those who were present at the meeting, excitement permeated the room and plans are now underway as together,

Rockway and MCEC will work together as partners on this combined effort. This generous gift from MCEC bequest funds exemplifies MCEC’s commitment for faith formation in today’s youth.

Raising money for tuition assistance is a tangible way to welcome more new students to Rockway and give them the opportunity to experience sound academic learning with growth in character and faith.

Partnerships lead to possibilities! Rockway is deeply grateful for the support of MCEC and looks forward to embarking on the Share the Flame campaign in the weeks to come! “Soli Deo Gloria”…Glory to God alone!
