Poetry Competition Finalist

Kristin AndreA poem that Kristin Andree, Grade 11 wrote and submitted to The Poetry Institute of Canada’s Canadian Schools Poetry Contest, was selected to be included in the top group of entries and will move forward to the final competition. The judging for the final award will occur in the spring.

In the meantime, the top group of entries (including Kristin’s poem) will be published in a book entitled Memories Never Lost which will be available in the Library at Rockway.

Kristin originally wrote the poem entitled “An Army Man’s Wife” as a project for her Grade 10 Canadian History class. Previously, Kristin entered a different poem to the OECTA (Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association) writing contest where she was a provincial finalist.

Kristin enjoys writing and is a member of the Rockway Ramblings student run newspaper team. She is considering pursuing Journalism or English at university. Congratulations, Kristin!
