Bright and early on the morning of Wednesday May 20th, the Grade 10 students stumbled onto a bus. After a stop at the Upper Canada Village, we headed for Quebec City.

The next day we met our guide Eric Miller. He  was a knowledgeable and cheerful man who gave us insight into the history of Quebec City as we drove. We visited the Plains of Abraham, and then got a tour of the Citadel. We had an afternoon of exploring old Quebec, followed by dinner at Côtes à Côtes. Then we boarded dance boat and had a great night on the St. Lawrence River, dancing and meeting other students from across the country.

On Friday morning we visited St. Anne’s Basilica and the Grade 10 choir got to sing two pieces in this massive Roman Catholic church. It was amazing!

That evening we drove to a sugar shack where we had a classic French Canadian meal that included pea soup, tourtière, fresh baked bread, ham and potatoes, all topped with maple syrup. After the dinner we danced the night away.

The bus ride home was silent unlike any of our classes. Ms. Hoffman, Mr. Kruger, Mme, Wideman and Mr. Wikerd had successfully tired us out for the long drive home.
