Rockway Fever

This is the season for colds, flu bugs and fevers!

I have a fever, but I’m not sick!  I have what I call a “Rockway Fever,” caused by an excessive amount of joy and pride, resulting from a strong extra-curricular program, a delicious fund-raising dinner and of course, the Olympics!

Last weekend we celebrated the months of work that went into Seussical.  As a community, we saw the characters of Dr. Seuss come to life on stage through costume, singing, dancing and speaking!  Words of thanks are extended to the cast and crew of the production for electrifying our stage with this story!

The last number of weeks our sports teams have been rounding off their seasons and most recently, our Junior and Senior Basketball Teams competed in CWOSSA in Walkerton.  Our Junior Boys brought home a silver medal and throughout the rest of the season, our teams improved in their skills and teamwork.  Words of thanks are extended to the players and the coaches for demonstrating amazing Rockway spirit in their practices, plays and sportspersonship!

Last evening I enjoyed Rockway’s Fund-Raising Banquet, an opportunity for supporters of Rockway to gather around tables, enjoy delicious food, engage in lively conversation, and then be entertained by Rockway students.  Words of thanks are extended to our chef extraordinaire, Joanne Jantzi and her committed volunteers, the Grade 11/12 Drama class for their production of “What Lies Beneath,” and the students from our private voice and piano studios who provided a diversity of music for the evening.

And throughout all of these great events, we have also experienced the joy of being Canadians!   Yesterday, Rockway’s halls were  abuzz when the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team won gold at the Olympics!

May you be protected from getting a fever, but may the Rockway fever keep us well and strong!
