Rockway teacher John Moyer plays House of Frienship founder “Joseph Cramer”, alongside Rockway students Zoe Andres and Joanna Loepp Thiessen.

For years Rockway and the House of Friendship have had a dynamic partnership, with our students collecting thousands of cans annually for the House of Friendship’s Christmas Hamper food drive.

HOFlogoWorking with the House of Friendship in this way has given Rockway a great opportunity to work at character formation with our students. So when the House of Friendship asked Rockway to partner with them to stage a drama to celebrate their 75 years of service to the community, we jumped at the chance.

The play entitled The Ever-Stretching Table was written by Johnny Wideman, a talented young writer who ably took on the challenging task of bringing the history of a nonprofit organization to life!

The central character is House of Friendship founder Joseph Cramer, played by teacher John Moyer who brought energy and life to the role. Teacher David Harder along with several Rockway students played the remaining roles.

Comprised of a series of vignettes, the play was performed in sections throughout the evening as the dinner progressed. It was well received with many positive comments.

Thanks to Dawn Gill and Christine Rier from the House of Friendship, for their excellent coordination efforts. We look forward to many more years of partnership with House of Friendship and their staff.
