Rockway to host OFSAA 2016
Our Physical Education department has some exciting news – Rockway has been selected as the hosts of the 2016 OFSAA Girls A Volleyball Championships! Here’s a little context:
What is Rockway’ history with OFSAA? In the last quarter century, Rockway teams have earned spots in over forty OFSAA championship tournaments. Of those forty or so opportunities, we have medaled over twenty times, were recognized with the sportsmanship award four times, and came away as champions four times.
Why host OFSAA?
As a school, we have hosted a plethora of sporting tournaments, including District 8 Championships and many CWOSSA Championships. We’ve also hosted a number of national and international music events. However, we’ve never had the opportunity to host an Ontario sporting championship and finally our chance has come!
What was the selection process?
The process started two years ago when we put together several bids for several sports in the hopes of landing one event. We are very pleased to have been selected and look forward to planning an amazing experience for everyone involved.
