Rockway Welcomes Director of Admissions and Recruitment
Rockway is pleased to announce that David Lobe has been hired as Director of Admissions and Recruitment. David brings a wealth of experience to his role in student recruitment and retention, the international student program and community relations.
Having completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History and a Masters of Arts in History and International Relations, Dave has worked at Extend-A-Family as both a Recruitment Coordinator as well as a Training Coordinator and worked for several years as Assistant General Manager for BLT Farms Inc. He has managed recruitment strategies, marketing strategies, and developed a strong understanding of Chinese and Hong Kong culture through more than ten trips to the Region.
David is an energetic and motivated individual who will be able to highlight the benefits of Rockway with prospective and current student families here and abroad. As a Rockway alumni, soon-to-be Rockway student parent, former Silver Lake Camp staff and current Mennonite Church Eastern Canada youth group sponsor, he has a strong understanding of how Rockway builds character and nurtures students. As a former international student, current international student host parent, and frequent visitor to Hong Kong and China, he understands the challenges and opportunities of studying in a foreign context.
When asked about what excites him about his appointment he said, “My seven years at Rockway were foundational for me. They helped shape my beliefs, values and the way that I viewed the world. I am honoured and excited to be able to play a small role in creating that atmosphere for another generation of students at Rockway and in continuing to build on the strong foundations that are already in place through the hard work of both current and previous faculty, staff and board. This is going to be fun work…I can’t wait to get started!”
David, his wife Leanne, and their son Josh, are members of Rockway Mennonite Church. Lobe will commence his new role on February 18, 2016.
