Posted on: February 4th, 2014

IMG_5511Rockway’s Annual Fundraising Dinner on Thursday February 20th, will feature the presentation of an original play performed by the Grade 10/11 drama class entitled “What Lies Beneath”.

Inspired by a variety of sources, the script was collaboratively written by the class of eleven students, under guidance from drama teacher, Alan K. Sapp.

The story is set in a village where a terrible accident takes place ten years prior: a fire kills the village blacksmith and leaves his daughter blinded. A creature, known only as The Unseen was spotted at the accident, and the villagers assume that The Unseen is to blame for the trajedy. As the story unravels, the prejudice of the villagers is revealed, and we learn that The Unseen was actually sent to the village. But sent by whom?

This play is being prepared for the Sears Ontario Drama Festival, an annual drama competition that showcases original scripts from across the province.

Consider joining us on February 20th for this intriguing performance!
