Why see Rockway’s production of “1984”?

Posted on: February 22nd, 2019

1984“…You might remember it as the novel you had to read in school…or maybe you read it later in your life..or maybe never at all! So, why should you come and see Rockway’s production, that is set to hit the stage from February 27th – March 1st?

One good reason to see this show is to experience or re-experience Orwell’s fascinating and extremely disturbing story line. I guarantee that this show will give your mind something to chew on, especially considering the political climate we find ourselves in.

Or maybe you’ll appreciate the modern technology that we’re experimenting with to bring Big Brother to life. Think BIG SCREENS that remind us how Orwell’s world is one of constant supervision. You may even notice elements of this world as soon as you enter the building, before the play officially begins.

The main reason to see this production, however, is to witness the extraordinary gifts and talents of our students. The two leading actors, Micah and Naomi, are nothing short of brilliant in their roles, which are challenging to say the least. This is their story.

They are supported by an extremely strong ensemble of actors who round out the cast. Some of the actors you will not see a great deal on stage, but prior to the performance, you will likely observe one or two of them as you prepare to enter the performance space.

I believe that you will leave Rockway’s performance of “1984” with a great deal to think and talk about. Theatre should do that – come and be a part of this experience, you won’t regret it!
