Rockway Mennonite Collegiate is a school that goes beyond commercialism during the Christmas Season.  The last numbers of weeks Rockway students have experienced the heart of the Christmas story through concerts, cans and community building!

On Tuesday, December 9th, Rockway music students participated in its annual Christmas Concert, “O Magnum Mysterium,” at St. Matt’s Lutheran Church. The concert has been a long-standing tradition of this school, giving opportunity to focus and celebrate the birth of Jesus, by listening to texts and tunes.  It was also a wonderful opportunity for us to gather as a community of faith.

Rockway students have brought hope into our community this Advent Season by their overwhelming support of Rockway’s Food Drive. On Thursday, December 11th, Rockway students celebrated reaching their goal for the annual House of Friendship Food Drive…..95 cans/student!  How exciting to see the buzz around this place the last number of weeks…..hearing stories of canning and seeking donations….all leading up to the final day!  Sincere appreciation goes to our Student Council for their leadership in this worthwhile event!

The last two weeks, we have also gathered in chapel as a community and focused on the Christmas story. Through carol singing and the re-telling of the Christmas story, faculty, staff and students have celebrated the wonderful words of the Angel Gabriel, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests!”

It continues to be an honor to lead this place, specifically at a time of year when we can unapologetically walk and talk the Christmas story!

May you all experience the peace, hope and love of Christ during this Christmas Season and into 2015.
