IMG_4973 (1)Six Grade 12 Rockway Physics students toured three Physics labs at the University of Waterloo on December 16th, 2013. This year we decided to do a QuickStart in Semester 1 of this tour, for students wanting to get a head start on their Physics Independent Study Unit (ISU).

Early in Semester Two we will be revisiting University of Waterloo with the entire Physics class.

In the last three years we have toured the:

  • Low Temperature Physics Lab with Professor Robert Hill
  • Ultra-Fast Pulsed Laser Lab with Dr. Donna Strickland
  • Biophysics Laboratory with Professor Melanie Campbell
  • Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) with Dr. Martin Laforest

We have also enjoyed a lecture from Professor Kostadinka Bizheva who specializes in, Non-invasive Optical Imaging of the structure and function of biological tissue with Optical Coherence Tomography

Finally, Nanotechnology at UW, headed by world renowned Physicist, Dr. Raymond Laflamme will hopefully be part of our upcoming tour early in 2014.
