Recently several of Rockway’s German students were honoured to receive awards during the annual German-Canadian Business Association Bitzer Awards night. Local dignitaries and many business representatives were on hand to help present cash awards to students from local high schools.
Two University of Waterloo engineering students who had recently been on an exchange in Germany, spoke about their experiences in German and English.
Four of our grade 11 students, who participated in the German Contest at Wilfrid Laurier University last May received their prizes. Joanna Loepp-Thiessen placed in the advanced category, while Jacob Reimer-Dick, Connor Huxman and Daniel Martin did well in the regular category.
Other students receiving awards were: Joel Gingerich and Yara Janzen in grade 10 German and Bobby Soosaar and Lauren MacNeil in grade 11 German.
