“Bravo!” to the grade 7’s and 8’s and congratulations on a highly successful run of Alice in Wonderland.

From April 20th to the 22nd, Rockway’s Junior High program hosted hundreds of children from five visiting schools as well as giving evening performances for the general public, alumni, family and friends. The White Rabbit was late as usual, the Queen of Hearts demanded “Off with their heads!” at the slightest provocation and Humpty Dumpty did fall but was caught by some rather strange-looking flowers who looked suspiciously like Rockway faculty and staff!

Besides Alice in Wonderland’s familiar line-up of colourful characters that did not disappoint, the production explored deeper themes not always at front of mind when thinking of Lewis Carroll’s story: the difference one true friend can make, the importance of learning to trust oneself, and the hard work of growing up. “The key is Understanding,” the Cheshire Cat tells Alice, “And it will open every door.”

Thanks to all involved for sharing your talents and telling us such a funny, heartfelt story.
